Covid 19 Health & Safety Plan

NEW: Masks Are Now Mandatory

As per the November 19 public health order in BC, masks are now mandatory for everyone in all public indoor settings and workplaces. This includes dance studios and also includes during classes.

We are required to enforce this mask policy for all students, instructors and staff. Students can be refused entry into the studio if they do not wear a mask. If wearing a mask is something that you are not comfortable with, we hope you’ll understand that we are following provincial regulations and we hope to see you again soon when you are able to return to the studio.

For the health and safety of our students, instructors and staff at Imperial Ballroom, our updated mask policy is:

1. Please wear a mask when you enter the studio, when you are in between classes, and when you are in common areas (lounge, washrooms, etc).

2. It is now required that students wear a mask while participating in dance classes. If you experience dizziness, fatigue, headache, discomfort, or shortness of breath while wearing your mask during class, please take a break to sit down, rest and catch your breath.

Safe Physical Distancing

To meet safe physical distancing requirements, we are limiting the number of people in the studio at any given time and clearly marking safe distance zones on our floor. We are also staggering class times to prevent large groups of people congregating in the studio between classes, as well as to allow time for cleaning and sanitization between classes.

When you arrive for your class, if we are at maximum capacity in the studio, you may be asked to please wait outside in the designated area along the sidewalk and maintain a distance of 2 metres apart, until it is time for you to enter the studio.

Once inside the studio, please approach the front desk one person at a time and complete any registration requirements, then store your belongings in the lounge area, wash or sanitize your hands and proceed to claim your spot on the dance floor.

The dance floor has been marked into safe distance zones which are at least 2 metres apart. Only one person is permitted per marker, and please stay in your marked area.

After your class has finished, please wash or sanitize your hands again, collect your belongings, and leave the studio as quickly as possible if there are students waiting outside for the next class.

Handwashing

Frequent handwashing and good hygiene practices are essential to reduce the spread of the virus. Please wash your hands or sanitize before your class and after your class. Use the sinks in the washrooms (one person at a time) or any of the hand sanitizer bottles located at the front desk and throughout the studio.

Our Cleaning and Disinfecting Protocols

We have implemented enhanced antibacterial and antiviral cleaning and sanitizing protocols for all common areas and surfaces, including washrooms, light switches, door handles. etc. This includes increasing the frequency that these items are cleaned (number of times per day) as well as the timing (before, during, and after classes).

If You Feel Unwell

If you are experiencing symptoms such as fever, chills, a cough, sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, etc, or if you are in proximity with someone who is ill, please stay home and do not attend classes.

If you have travelled internationally recently, please stay home, self isolate, and refrain from attending classes.

Class Registration

Pre-registration and pre-payment is required for all classes in order to reduce touch-points in the studio as well as to prevent/reduce congestion at the front desk. No drop-ins are permitted, in order to maintain safe distancing. Only registered students are permitted in the studio, no spectators (except parents / guardians of children in kids classes).

Class Times

We are staggering our class start times with a break between classes to allow for cleaning and sanitization as well as to prevent large groups from congregating in the studio during class cross over.

Partner Classes

We are starting up our lesson program as safely and cautiously as we can. For the time being, and for the well-being of students, we will not be offering any partner classes. All the classes in the first phase of our reopening will be solo dance classes which do not require a partner, such as footwork, body movement, styling etc. We will continue to assess the situation and monitor updates from public health advisories, and will re-evaluate this decision at a later date as soon as possible.
